Calvary Baptist Church in Waterbury, Connecticut

What Are Flock Groups?

F.L.O.C.K. groups are made up of church members, attenders and anyone else who would like to learn about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  The F.L.O.C.K.S regionally meet in homes under the umbrella of the Calvary Baptist Church of Waterbury.  Their purpose is to encourage spiritual growth through Bible study, fellowship and prayer.

“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory”

1 Thess. 2:12

About our flocks

Their purpose is to develop the Body of Christ by providing an informal setting where the saints can exercise their God given gifts.  It is also a place where the body can be edified and the lost can meet Christians outside the formal setting of a church building. Ultimately, it is a place to promote the Word of God, fellowship and prayer.

The F.L.O.C.K.s are another place where we can experience genuine biblical fellowship and encourage one another unto love and good works – Ephesians 2:10.

Leadership Development

The F.L.O.C.K.s provide an ideal place for the members of Calvary to exercise their ministry gifts; building up Christ’s body, which is His church -Ephesians 4:11f.

The small family nature of a F.L.O.C.K. provides a conducive setting for attendees to bring a friend.  There they can observe in a close setting the love and unity that exists among Christians.  They will hear the Word of God and watch as the believers use their spiritual gifts to build each other up in the Lord. – Matthew 28:19-20.

The F.L.O.C.K.s will have many occasions to care for each other in practical ways.  Along with its regular prayer time, each flock provides a rich setting to genuinely meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs within the group – James 2:14f.

The study of God’s Word is central to the life of a F.L.O.C.K. and is a place where the Bible is openly discussed and questions can be answered. It is also a place were the children of God can be held accountable to the righteous behavior that should characterize the sheep of God’s pasture – Hebrews 10:22-25.
