We live in the middle of a culture that is filled with seemingly intolerable, repugnant, and futile choices. A society that is daily becoming more decadent and increasingly lacking great political statesmen.
Which leads to the question, “where do we find rest? And in whom or what should we place our trust and our hope?”
Peter is addressing this question in our passage this morning. He is telling the 1st Century Christians where they will find rest in an increasingly decadent and hostile situation.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” – 1 Peter 1:13
