The Lord Will Not Forsake - Psalm 94

Jul 10, 2022    Dr. Craig P. Scott

Psalm 94 presents an ageless dilemma that every generation since the fall has struggled with, that is, “How long shall the wicked triumph?” (v. 3). Evil men and nations have worked their havoc throughout the millenniums. There seems to be no shortage of them. From Cain killing his brother Abel and later at the end of the Antediluvian period where . . .“the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Genesis 6:5). This was followed by the continual oppressive rise of brutal nations such as Assyria, Babylon, Medio-Persia, Greece, and Rome. Each expanding their territories and oppressing those they conquered. Even in our day we see the advancement of evil. Oppressive regimes, the threats of war, the disregard of human life and so much more. There is no limit to the outcrops of evil manifested in these days. Even on the micro level we watch senseless violence occurring in our streets, the blatant disregard of laws, unchecked corruption, and cruelty. There is no title or historic setting dating this, Psalm. Its theme is universal. It is written for all ages and for anyone asking the question “How long shall the wicked triumph?”
