The Believer's Calling - John 21:15-22

Apr 24, 2022    Dr. Craig P. Scott

The true gospel call to follow Jesus Christ is a call to self-denial. It is not a man centered call to self-fulfillment. There is no “Christianity lite.” The gospel calls sinners to submit fully to Jesus Christ. We are to find our lives by losing them, to gain our lives by abandoning them, to live life to the fullest by emptying ourselves. Jesus declared, “NO ONE,” “. . . after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62).
He warned that those who would follow Him must be willing to die to themselves and He stressed the importance of counting the cost of commitment.
This messages looks at Jesus' call to follow Him. So, in our love for Christ we need to ask ourselves, are we 1) committed to Him more than to anything else? 2) In our commitment to Christ are we willing to sacrifice everything? and finally, 3) regardless of the situation, are we willing to follow Christ’s leading?
