Our Role in Evangelism - Mark 16:15
God expects God’s people to spread the good news of the gospel for His glory, and to add believers to the local assembly in order for them to grow in grace. The growth God expects to see within any local assembly is first biological growth, which is the winning of new souls to the Lord, then discipling them and making them a productive part of the local assembly. Every believer has been commissioned by our Lord to make new disciples. No matter what we do for a living, plumber, engineer, carpenter, salesman, nurse, radiologist, mother and housewife, manager, secretary, teacher, etc. - along with these skills we all have been given standing biblical commands to carry out the task of making disciples. To do this important work, every believer has been given the capacity to make disciples. The commission is stated in simple terms, “GO”
Mark 16:15 – “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
God expects every one of us to go into every part of the world and share the gospel. All believers are appointed to this command.
It is equally clear that God anticipates results because we are instructed on what to do next with those that believe. They are to be baptized as a sign of their faith, and then instructed in the Word of God.
Matthew 28:19-20 - “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Though we have been given the commission to go out into the world and make disciples, the sharing of the gospel by the believer is often the exception rather than the rule.
