Heaven - Part One: Terms - Matthew 6:19-21

Apr 20, 2022    Dr. Craig Scott & Craig Akins

What is waiting for you in heaven? What is heaven like? Describe it. What will you be doing there? Where is it? What will you look like? Scripture tells us to “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matt. 6:19).

If our treasure is in heaven, then tell me something about it. Scripture tells us about some of the faithful followers of the past. Men like Abraham, Moses and King David, or women like Sarah, Rehab, and Deborah.
“But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city” (Heb. 11:16).

This topic covers a number of areas and subjects such as the Bema Seat of Christ, The Marriage Supper of the Lamb, Heaven: a physical place, Life in Heaven, What do people do in Heaven, Seeing God, The Rule and Reign of Christ, The New Jerusalem, the Intermediate State, the lifting of the curse and Immortality.
This is part one where we will discuss the terms given in Scripture relating to our future home. "Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2).
