Elijah: Is God Able to Meet Your Needs? - 1 Kings 17

There is a warfare raging today regarding who is on the throne: is it Man, or is it God? Even for the believer, this issue raises personal questions like, “Do we really believe God is able to meet all our needs?”
Now, there is a vast difference between our intellectual ascent regarding God’s ability to care for us, and us actually stepping out in faith and trusting in God’s care. Many of us would rather take matters into our own hands than trust in a God we cannot see.
Our passage this morning takes place 57-years after King Solomon’s reign. In that time, nearly the entire northern kingdom was given over to idolatry. No longer were they trusting in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They failed to believe God’s promises and forsook Him for something temporal, because they did not believe God was able to meet all their needs.
