Rooted in Truth - Ephesians 6:13-14a

Aug 6, 2023    Dr. Craig P. Scott

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth . . .” - Eph. 6:13-14a.

From 53 BC and until the times of the French Revolution (1792-99) and the Neapolitan War (1800-1815) the use of fighting squares was an effective method of warfare. In their day, the fighting square enabled an infantry force to withstand an overwhelming attack by a superior Cavalry.

These fighting squares were highly effective during the Neapolitan War for the British.  They were able time and again to withstand the overwhelming rush of Napoleon’s Cavalry.  They could withstand an attack from any direction.  Its design made it difficult for the enemy to penetrate its walls of fire.

I like to think of this as what the church’s defensive posture use to look like.  We would have various ministries and function of the local church to edify the saints.  We build our defensive strategies from several passages in Scripture.
