When The Tongue Tattles - James 3:1-12

The tongue IS YOU in a unique way. It is a tattletale that reveals what is in our heart and discloses the real person behind this covering of flesh. The tongue is of great concern to James. To him the tongue is yet another test of living faith.
In this passage James demonstrates that the genuineness of our faith inevitably will be manifested in our speech. This is the fifth test of genuine faith. In various ways our speech manifests the nature of our standing before God. Nowhere is the relationship between genuine faith and works more evident than in our speech.
