Genuine Faith Is Revealed in Our Plans - James 4:11-17

May 22, 2022    Dr. Craig P. Scott

Today we will see how our faith is revealed in our plans (James 4:11-18). James illustrates his point by describing the attitude of some traveling merchants. They went city to city making as much money as they could. They were very successful and prideful. They did not factor God into the equation of their lives. They felt they were getting along just fine without God and in this they were making three fatal miscalculations. If left uncorrected, this would lead to a wasted life. Notice the three miscalculations.
First . . . They had the wrong focus and were making a fatal miscalculation about tomorrow. Second, there was a miscalculation about time (James 2:14) and finally, there was a miscalculation about trust (James 4:15).
